@ the Hazelwood brewhouse

Sometimes lovingly referred to as a “drinking town with a football problem,” Pittsburgh has a history of brewing beer in unexpected places. Old churches, music venues, and even former post offices around the city have all been transformed into breweries.

But in 2017 when The Progress Fund purchased the former home of Hazelwood Brewing - a historical building erected in 1905 and situated at 5007 Lytle St. - it seemed like a no-brainer to return it to its former glory as a brewery. The massive 20,000 sq ft space would prove too large for just one or two breweries though, so The Progress Fund decided that three was the magic number.

And that’s where we came in. Along with our friends at both Bonafide Beer Co and New France Brewing, we’ve taken over this historic space to provide Pittsburghers and beer enthusiasts from all over with a new, one-of-a-kind drinking experience. Three unique floors, one taproom, and dozens of different drafts all under one roof.

We are proud to be part of Pittsburgh’s brewing history and uphold it’s reputation for quality craft beer. Visit our “About Us” page to learn more about Abstract Realm and our mission to foster community and creativity in Hazelwood.
